A local figure skater is gaining national recognition.
Alison Schumacher, a 14 year old graduate of Ste Marguerite D'Youville in Tecumseh finished third at the Canadian Tire National Youth Figure Skating Championships.
Schumacher qualified at the Western Ontario Sectionals where she placed 2nd.
Alison had a season's and personal best skate at Nationals, recording the 5th highest score at Nationals in Canadian history.
Schumacher, now lives in Toronto, and trains at the Brian Orser and Tracey Wilson skating school, which is at the Toronto Cricket Club.
The medal was Schumacher's third National Medal, with her others being a bronze in pre-novice in 2012, and a silver as a novice skater in Prince Rupert in 2015.
