The Greater Essex County District School has acquired a piece of property for a new school in Windsor's core.
The board purchased land at 1123 Mercer Street.
The land will be the permanent home for Giles Campus French Immersion Public School.
In November 2015, the board received a $15.42 million grant from the province for the school.
The new school will accommodate 645 students.
Giles Campus has been around since 2012 (following the South Windsor PARC in 2011) and has been operating out of the former W.D. Lowe Secondary School.
The new location is about one kilometre from the current site.
