Another huge donation by a local philanthropist.
Al Quesnel presented a cheque worth $500,000 to Big Brother-Big Sisters of Windsor-Essex.
Quesnel says he was a 'little brother' growing up and benefited from the program, so it was time to give back.
"I spent a lot of weekends with my big brother and without a father around, it was definitely something that I looked forward to for guidance and support and I remember having a really well rounded upbringing with him involved," he says.
The money will be used to hire more staff and hopefully reduce the waiting lists for little brothers and little sisters to be matched.
"It had come to my attention that there has been some government cutbacks and the need to hire more people and their budget only allows for what they are currently operating," says Quesnel.
In August, Quesnel donated $1-million to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
Also in August, he committed $5-million toward the restoration of the 173-year-old Assumption church in the area of Huron Church Rd. and University Ave. in the city's west end.
