Local philanthropist Al Quesnel has come forward as the donor who is willing to donate up to $1-million for the Downtown Mission's Wellness Centre.
He is willing to match all donations from the community to the centre up until October 31.
So far, the community has contributed $350,000 in support of the challenge.
Quesnel says he believes in the Downtown Mission.
"They are literally transforming people's lives and giving them hope," he says. "Please help me write the Mission a cheque for $1,000,000."

Phase one included an expanded food bank and 103 bed shelter for men, women, youth and families.
The centre plans to expand to include recovery support programs for men and women as well as increasing services for youth and expanded health centre facilities.
