OPP detachments across the local region are asking the public to be extreme cautious this evening.
Constable Karen Sinnaeve says the high winds are causing headaches for area residents.
She says there are objects flying around, down power & cable lines, uprooted trees and a number of street lights are out.
Sinnaeve says there are several areas impacted in Tecumseh, Lakeshore and Harrow.
"Where we have several power lines and trees down, police officers are on site and if you do come upon an area that has a road closure, you need to honour that road closure," says Sinnaeve.
Constable Sinnaeve says if you notice down power lines, call Essex Power, Hydro One or the OPP.
But she adds, if your power is out, don't call the OPP and ask when it will be restored.
