Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Percy Hatfield is blasting the Liberal government.
During question period at Queen's Park on Wednesday, Hatfield questioned the Minister of Municipal Affairs and asked the province to change the criteria for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) for those impacted by the recent flooding.
He says the way the program is right now, it does not assist flood victims.
The program does not cover damages to homes that were flooded due to sewage system backups.
Hatfield says the criteria for the program was written in the last century.
"Sewer back-up claims during torrential rainfalls aren't covered," says Hatfield. "In our area we had more than six thousand homes flooded recently, the Minister of Municipal Affairs took a look and says few of them will qualify under the existing guidelines well daa lets change the guidelines."

Hatfield says it's been tough for more than 6000 families impacted by the floods.
"Some private insurance companies have cut off people without warning some of them cap claims at ridiculous amounts, municipalities have been building better sewers for years."
He says storms like the one that hit Windsor two weeks ago are happening all over the province.
"The evidence is in, we need a decision. When will this government do the right thing change the guidelines and offer real hope for people affected by natural disasters."
DRAO is only provided to those resident who qualify.
