It's the end of an era in Windsor.
Today is the last day for public tours at the historic Canadian Club Heritage Brand Centre on Riverside Dr.
The company that owns the centre announced earlier this year it would be ending the tours and close the building.
On Thursday, Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Percy Hatfield introduced a bill at Queen's Park in an effort to save the historic site. "Speaker I move that lead be given to introduce a bill entitled an Act to Amend the Liquor Control Act and the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation and Public Protection Act of 1996 with respect the authorization for brand owners to sell spirits manufactured for them in Ontario."

Hatfield told the Ontario Legislature that the brand centre is an important piece of Windsor's history. "The root of this bill is the Canadian Club Heritage Brand Centre in Windsor. Years ago Hiram Walker sold the rights to another distiller to produce Canadian Club Whisky because C.C. is now manufactured now by someone else, the product can't be sold at the historic brand centre."
At the time of the announcement, the company stated whisky will continue to be produced at the Windsor distillery, but it wants to refocus its investments to "better cultivate the brand both locally and around the world."
