A group of local real estate agents is doing more than selling homes, they are helping out three local charities.
A year ago, agents at Manor Windsor Realty decided to set aside a bit of money from each home sold with the company pledging to match the funds.
The initiative, called "Manor Keys of Hope", recently donated $11,000 to be shared between the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation, the Fight Like Mason Foundation and VON.
The Cancer Centre's Monica Bunde says its share will be put to good use.
"We have several programs at the foundation, our patient assistance fund, dignity robes and image enhancement, so really wherever the money is needed the most, that's where the money will go."
Fight Like Mason received $5,000 and Mason's dad Iain Macri says it's an honour the community still remembers his son.
"To hear someone in Windsor-Essex is wanting to sponsor our charity, or raise any money in Mason's name, it makes me feel so honoured as a father to know that our community is still standing up for those affected by childhood cancer and wanting to carry on Mason's legacy even farther."
Manor Windsor Realty General Manager Rob Agnew says there is special meaning behind the name of the initiative.
"Key, of course, connotating real estate, but also a key opening up the door to those disenfranchised people."
Every year, the group will pick three different charities to support.
