A boost for the local Jumpstart Nutrition program.
On Friday, Teachers Life presented a cheque for $2,500 towards the program which provides a daily breakfast as well as healthy snacks to students free of charge.
The group is a not-for-profit insurance company providing coverage for Canada's education community.
Brian Marenchin is the principal at Holy Name Elementary School in Essex.
He says the donation complimented fundraising done by a lot of schools taking part in the program — which mainly focused on hockey.
"It came about in partnership with the host organizing committee with the Mastercard Memorial Cup and bringing the titled sponsor Teachers Life to try and benefit students across the school boards in Windsor-Essex through the Jumpstart Nutrition Program," says Marenchin.

He says the Memorial Cup provided a unique opportunity.
"Each school does there own individual nutrition fundraiser, we're required to do that as apart of being a Jumpstart school you need to do some sort of fundraising throughout the year so why not do it in a fun and exciting way in celebrating the Mastercard Memorial Cup," says Marenchin.
Along with the $2,500 donation, 27 schools from three local school boards also participated in the Pucks For Bucks program. The program is in conjunction with the 2017 Mastercard Memorial Cup.
