The President of Ontario's Treasury Board has paid a visit to Windsor to outline the state of the province's finances.
Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy released findings on the state of the province's finances and is engaging with business leaders across the province concerning the results.
Bethlenfalvy says 26,000 ideas were submitted online to the government and now the goal is to turn those ideas into a conversation about how to transform the government and make it more efficient.
He says the Doug Ford government is all about modernization.
"We heard from a lot of people within government, people on the frontline within government, we want to help modernize, we want to get going," he says. "We've got a fresh set of ideas and willing people to do it so we just need to get on with it."
CEO of the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation, Stephen MacKenzie was pleased with the visit from the minister.
"He gave an overall presentation on some of the challenges facing the province and some of the challenges facing business, facing residents and then we were really pleased that he listened — he said help us, inform us as we go about this and then there was a really great roundtable discussion," says Mackenzie.
Also at the table were Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Windsor Regional Hospital and EnWin Utilities.
MacKenzie says there was a lot of discussion about the make-up of Windsor-Essex.
"Our manufacturing base, our agricultural and agri-food base, we advocated for strategic investments in those, such as support programs, possibly incentives to help to keep us innovative and to keep us competitive on a global basis," he says.
