The local horse racing season has come to an end.
The 13-week schedule closed on Sunday.
Tom Bain is a member of the Lakeshore Horse Racing Association and is calling the race season a success.
Bain says he was pleased with this season's betting.
"We had a couple of real high spots where two of the Sunday's we bet over $40,000 which was a few years ago a goal that seemed unobtainable so great to see the fan support that we get," says Bain.

He adds mother nature helped out.
"We had pretty good weather, that helps certainly to keep our attendance up high and it really resulted in a great season for us," says Bain. "We were able to keep the fans coming, make it our family theme again and we were able to attract a high calibre of horse to come in and race each week."
The races took place at the Leamington Raceway.
Bain says planning for the 2019 season is already underway.
He says there are two more years left on the association's current contract with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
