Some Windsor-Essex non-profit and charitable organizations are sharing in $155,000 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Bike Windsor-Essex is receiving $75,000 over 12 months to create cycling education programs and services for people in marginalized neighbourhoods.
The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Windsor Essex is being granted $75,000 over 10 months to deliver a year-long series of informal art therapy workshops.
Alliance Executive Director Leona MacIntyre says the program is divided into four components.
"Breaking it up to 12 weeks of spoken word or literary, which would be writing, visual expression which is painting and drawing, dance and interpretive movement which the third and theatre and performance," says MacIntyre. "There will be youth, adults and seniors, we have partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association in Windsor-Essex to help us with workshop space, client referal and promotion that kind of thing."
The Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association locally gets almost $6,000 to host a one-day conference to implement inclusive education strategies for teachers and LGBTQ youth.
