The owner of Fred's Farm Fresh International Market in south Windsor says his business will follow the local health unit's decision when it comes to face masks.
Fred Bouzide says whatever regulations are put in place, his business will follow.
"Right now we have voluntary for the employees," he says. "If they want to wear a mask, they're welcomed to it. We have a few employees with masks but not that many. Customers are coming in, you know 50 per cent masks, 50 per cent with no masks, so we'll just have to follow the laws."
Bouzide says a few of his employees are wearing masks and about 50 per cent of his customers.
"We haven't had much of any of the customers that are coming in saying why aren't you wearing a mask or why aren't your employees wearing a mask or do you have a masks for me," says Bouzide. "We haven't had any problems like that."
"I guess it's what the people believe and how they feel and you can't change their mind, if they don't want to wear a mask but now we're going to have to let the people know that they got to wear a mask to come into the store," he says.
Bouzide says he might have to begin selling masks at the store for customers who arrive without one but says he will sell them at cost.
At his Friday morning update, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed said starting on Monday, masks will be mandatory if you are entering a commercial establishment in Windsor-Essex.
