A funding boost for Conseil scolaire catholique Providence.
The French Catholic Board has received $1.24-million from the province for expanding day care services at École élémentaire catholique Saint-Edmond on Totten Street.
According to a board release, the funding will create 15 additional child care spaces.
The school near the city's west side currently offers child care services for children aged 2.5 to 5 years, and for school-age children.
The board says the funding will now allow the school to offer child care services for toddlers between the ages of 18 to 30-months.
Acting director of education Carolyn Bastien says "the addition of day care spaces is essential to the development of the French and Catholic identity of our region’s children and the board is eager to begin construction of the expanded space in collaboration with the Ministry of Education."
More than 300 students attend the school.
