There are concerns that the future of Ojibway Shores could be in jeopardy, if the Windsor Port Authority is privatized.
Derek Coronado of the Citizens Environment Alliance says the federal government is working on a privatization strategy and has hired a private equity firm to do an analysis. "They're going to do the report, give it to the federal government and the feds may conduct a consultation process on it that says we think it's a good idea or we think this. In addition to port authorities, they're also looking at selling off airports as well."
Coronado says, if the authority is privatized, Ojibway Shores could be bulldozed very quickly.
The authority has tried to develop the land in the past but the local environmental community has been able to intervene.
