Families with the Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society will be saying 'pass go, collect $200', 'checkmate' and 'roll the dice' this coming Family Day.
Local entrepreneur Sam Sinjari has donated 200 new board games to the CAS which will be handed out to families ahead of Family Day on February 19.
"Our families don't know how to play," says Terry Johnson, interim executive director of the Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society. "I think this is a big step. It seems like a small donation but it is a huge donation because it is a tool we can use with our parents to teach them how to play."
Sinjari says board games allow for some bonding time and teaches children to problem solve and communicate.
"There are a lot of benefits in board games and it helps with thinking skills," he says.

In purchasing the games, he tried to keep different age groups in mind. He purchased Monopoly and Chess for older children and Candyland and Jenga for younger children.
As for his favourite game, he joked it was Monopoly because, 'I'm a business man and Monopoly is a good game."
