A local mom is getting some unexpected international fame.
Katie Curtis has been getting calls from media across the globe since wearing a Chewbacca mask while delivering her daughter.
A ten second video of the ordeal has gone viral getting nearly one million views in just over a week and a spot on the 'Today Show'.
The mask changes the voice of the person wearing it to the sounds of famous Star Wars character Chewbacca.
Curtis says the requests from media have been non-stop.
"Oh my gosh, Taiwan, Germany. All around the world. Insane. I mean it's insane. My Facebook is just loaded with friend requests and messages from reporters, news places I don't even know, parenting magazines. It's crazy."
She says the past week has been overwhelming.
"It's busy. You have a newborn. You're not sleeping. You're not really doing anything and then during the day you're getting all these calls and people wanting to come to our house to do interviews and it's just a lot. It's pretty overwhelming. So it wasn't a moment of trying to get fame or trying to get anything. It was just a text to my brother that went crazy."
Curtis says the mask was a Christmas gift from her brother in an attempt to induce labour because her daughter was overdue.
