It's that time of year once again — time to celebrate McHappy Day.
It's the 25th year for the event supporting families and children in need.
Guest Experience Manager Melissa Eagen says, locally, money will be going to the Ronald McDonald House at Windsor Regional Hospital and the John McGivney Children's Centre.
Eagen says helping the John McGivney centre was a natural fit for McHappy Day.
"The John McGivney Children's Centre is a great resource for children that can't go to a traditional school. So we're really excited to partner up with them this year and give back so that they can build some of the capital projects that they wanted to do and didn't have the funds to do so."
She says it's the second McHappy Day since the local Ronald McDonald House opened its doors.
"We personally have a number of families that have reached out to us and just shown their appreciation because it's truly a home away from home when they're going through a really hard time. So having the home within the hospital is absolutely fantastic."
Eagen says local employees are honoured to make a difference.
"We have really always supported the cause, but now that we have a Ronald McDonald house locally, it has really meant a lot more to us. It's beyond just serving a Big Mac. It's about helping a family in need and possibly a family that we've all known."
The 2018 edition of McHappy Day goes Wednesday, May 2.
Media personalities from AM800, 89X, 93.9 The River and CTV Windsor will be serving up food at several locations throughout the city collecting one dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and hot beverage.
Over the past 25 years, McHappy Day has raised more than $66-million for in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities across Canada.
