The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is exploring virtual graduation ceremonies for Grade 12 students.
In a statement posted on the board's website, Director of Education Terry Lyons says a committee has been formed to look at virtual options that would replicate a traditional graduation ceremony.
He says "we appreciate that while this option is not the same as a typical ceremony, we want to assure you that we are committed to doing our best to ensure these virtual ceremonies will still have all of the professionalism and gravitas that we would typically include in our traditional ceremonies."
The statement goes on to say, students will hear directly from their schools about their virtual graduation ceremony.

Lyons statement also says there will be no exams for secondary students.
He says "final report cards will be issued to all secondary students. The mark reported at mid-year, which recognized performance prior to March 13, is the lowest mark a Grade 12 student will receive on their final report card."
