CG Pearson Buses Limited says they are investigating after a fouryearold child was left on a school bus on Monday

A bus driver has been fired after a child was left alone on a school bus in Windsor.

CG Pearson Buses Limited says they are investigating after a four-year-old child was left on a school bus for a few hours on Monday.

The child's mother JoAnne Chartier says her daughter was left on the bus for three hours.

She says she became aware of the situation once she went to her daughter's daycare to pick her up.

At that time, the daycare told her, her four-year-old daughter Elly never got off the bus.

Chartier says she contacted her daughter's school and her teacher confirmed she was on the bus.

She says from there she contacted police, the bus company and her sister made a post on Facebook.

Chartier says it took about an hour for officials to locate the bus and where her daughter was.

She says her daughter is safe.

She's a very very good spirited kid," says Chartier.  "I'm very lucky to have such an amazing child.  She was in pretty good spirits.  I don't think she really realized what was going on until she saw all the police and like her uncle was the one that made it to the storage yard first."

Chartier says it was an emotional evening for her and her family.

"Big hug, cried a little bit, she wiped my tears and said it's ok mommy I'm safe and sound," says Chartier.

The bus company says it's looking into what happened.

Chartier says her daughter is safe and believes she was sleeping on the bus.

She says she has been in contact with the bus company and was told the bus company plans to introduce an after hours emergency phone line.
