Detroit Lions Pro-Bowl and All Pro Wide receiver Herman Moore will be the keynore speaker at the 15th annual WESPY Awards.
Moore met with award supports and the media in Windsor this morning.
He admits the size and variety of the Windsor Essex sports community is impressive.
After explaining how he hopes to inspire young athletes, he fielded some questions.
Moore says he hopes to motivate young athletes when he speaks.
"Showing the kids that whatever the release of that outlet is, whatever it is you just have to give your best. There's no failure. The L in my life is always lessons, it's not for loss."
He says sports is a positive thing for young people.
"We try and turn the spin and make everything a positive impact. We try and make sure mentally we prepare them. We're always talking about the physical side of it, but there's a mental piece as well that I think gets them over the hump."
Moore says this year's Lions face some real challenges.
"I know they're going to look back at the draft. I'm sure many of ytou heard about Stafford and the fact he's been injured. When they should have perhaps picked up another quarterback to start to bring along so now we'll see how that pans out."
Moore playfully diverted a question about whether the Lions should take Colin Kaepernick now that he may be returing to the NFL.
The WESPYs are March 10th at the Caboto Club.
Nominations are now available at the WESPYS.ca and ticket sales begin in January.
