The Carolina Panthers failed on a two-point conversion with 1:07 to go and lost to the Detroit Lions 20-19 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Cam Newton connected with DJ Moore for an eight-yard touchdown but his pass to Jarius Wright on the two-point attempt was incomplete.

Matthew Stafford threw for 220 yards and a TD for the Lions, who snapped a three-game NFL losing streak and improved to 4-and-6 on the year.

Kerryon Johnson ran for 87 yards and a score in the victory.

Newton finished 25-of-37 for 357 yards, three touchdowns and an interception for Carolina, which slipped to 6-and-4 with its second straight loss.

The 4-and-6 Lions will host the 7-and-3 NFC North-leading Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day.
