The Detroit Lions of the NFL announced Tuesday that they have traded Wide Receiver Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles.
In exchange, the Lions get a third-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
“On behalf of our entire organization, I would like to sincerely thank Golden for his countless contributions to our team during his time as a Detroit Lion." says Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Quinn. ""For more than four years Golden displayed an unwavering commitment to not only his coaches and teammates, but also the City of Detroit. The impact he made on and off the field set an example for our team and serves as a testament to his character."
After entering the NFL as a second-round draft selection with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 out of Notre Dame, Tate joined the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2014 and appeared in 71 games (64 starts) for Detroit. His career totals with the Lions include 416 receptions, 4,741 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Tate thanked the City of Detroit in a tweet sent out just before 2pm on Tuesday.
