Mother nature showed her destructive force in LaSalle during Saturday night's thunderstorm.
Lightning struck a home at 2645 Skinner St. just before 5:30pm. A vent near the peak the roof was hit, setting the attic on fire, according to workers cleaning up the scene.
LaSalle Fire and Rescue put the fire out quickly, but hotspots popped up at around 6am Sunday morning and firefighters returned to extinguish the fire a second time.

That's according to neighbour Paul Bresolin, he tells AM800 News he didn't see the strike, but he was standing on his patio directly next door when it hit the home.
"We turned and I see the sparks coming from the roof and next thing you know there was smoke," he says.
Bresolin's wife Christina and his two children were indoors when the crack of lightning sounded and felt a little too close for comfort.
"She [Bresolin's daughter] was upstairs, we heard a scream, I was coming up from the basement, I screamed and jumped," she says. "The crack was something I've never heard."
She says their first concern was for their neighbour's safety, they immediately called them to confirm they weren't home before calling 911.
"They thought that their daughter was home alone and luckily she was not, because that could have been a different situation," she added.
A damage estimate has yet to be released, but the home suffered extensive smoke and water damage.
LaSalle fire confirmed no one was injured.
