A special visitor for the the Town of LaSalle on Wednesday.
Her Honour the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario was in town for an official visit where she met with Mayor Marc Bondy.
After meeting the mayor, the Lieutenant Governor participated in a roundtable discussion with town officials and community stakeholders.
"The opportunity to learn a little bit about the French history of this community, but I also learned about the importance that people attach to the environment and some of the work you've done in neighbourhoods and making them walkable and livable," says Dowdeswell.

She also says LaSalle is ahead of its time and calls it a hidden gem, adding "in the sense of understanding how you link economic prosperity with environmental stewardship and also building communities, building social cohesion. This is a small community that most people don't know about and yet it's a community that people want to live here, they stay here, they come back here and there is something that is very attractive about this being a place they want to spend their lives."
Following the roundtable discussion, she was given a tour of the University of Windsor Freshwater Restoration Ecology Centre in LaSalle.
This was Her Honour's 75th official civic visit during her term.
