Mixed reviews about a proposal for covering more daycare costs which will be announced in Wednesday's provincial budget.
The Wynne Liberals are pledging to fully fund child care from age 2.5 up to JK-SK.
The program, to begin in 2020, would cost $2.2-billion.
ABC Daycare Supervisor Dianne Patenado agrees it will be a big help to struggling parents.
"We have a lot of parents here who both of them are working, but it's a sacrifice for them to put their children in child care because it's so expensive. So I think that's great for them. The parents will be very happy"
Patenado cautions there need to be rules because for-profit centres have used grants to upgrade their buildings.
"We're non-profit so everything that we make that we don't pay in wages and overhead we put back into our child care centres through equipment, workshops and so forth. So we value our employees"
Windsor West PC Candidate Adam Ibrahim says helping struggling parents with daycare costs is nice but he questions the proposal.
"It has to be properly analyzed. You need to really do the proper research and look into it and do what's best for the people of Ontario. The people of Ontario deserve better and we should help with child care and it is something that's important but we have to look into the best way and the most efficient way of doing it."
Premier Kathleen Wynne announced the initiative today, just ahead of tomorrow's budget.
She says the program covers the costs of full-day, licensed child care and will save parents an average of $17,000 per preschooler.
It will cost $2.2-billion over three years.
