A youth centre in Leamington has its new Executive Director.
The Bridge Youth Resource Centre opened its doors in January and Director of Operations Greg Wiens has been filling the roll that Krista Rempel will step into.
Wiens says Rempel — who previously worked at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit — is the perfect person for the job.
"She has many strengths including her organizational skills, experience in the health field and their planning policies and development. Also the fact that she is good with new initiatives and that's what The Bridge is," he says.
He says she was on the organizations radar from the beginning.
"Krista wasn't available at the time when we opened The Bridge, so she is taking the spot that I was doing as a temporary contract."
Wiens tells AM800 News she's already hit the ground running.
"A couple nights ago we had a presentation by the Ontario Provincial Police and she was here and she's very excited to step in and take the bridge to the next step," says Wiens.
The organizations next phase is too build short term housing for homeless youths in Leamington — currently they are sent to Windsor for help.
