Hayden Hodgson continues to eye an OHL playoff berth for his Saginaw Spirit.
Following last night's shutout loss (4-0) to the Spitfires, Saginaw sits two points behind the Flint Firebirds for the eighth and final post-season spot in the Western Conference. Flint also has three games in hand.
The 20-year-old Leamington native says it's going to be difficult to get in but he's up to the challenge.
"We got a hard, tough schedule coming up so our head coach made it pretty clear that we're going to have to beat quality teams on a nightly basis so that's one of our keys," says Hodgson. "As you get older you realize that every day you got to put in that work and got to work to take that next step or whatever it takes."
Hodgson and the Spirit next hit the ice tomorrow night at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw against the high-flying London Knights.
He leads Saginaw in scoring with 29 goals and 52 points.
The former Sun County Panthers Minor Midget has also played for Sarnia and Erie during his OHL career.
