Highline Produce in Leamington is being fined after a worker was critically injured.
In May 15, 2018, a worker was injured at the Mersea Rd. 5 location after becoming caught in a moving cable and winch system.
A Ministry of Labour investigation determined that Highline failed to take the reasonable precaution of ensuring the machinery was equipped with and guarded by a guard or other device that prevented access to the pinch point.
The company entered a guilty plea and was fined $75,000 in provincial court.
A 25% victim fine surcharge was also imposed and will be credited to a special provincial government fund to assist victims of crime.
