Auston Matthews didn't miss a beat in his return to the Toronto Maple Leafs' lineup.
The 21-year-old centre, who was out for 14 games with a shoulder injury, scored twice and set up another goal as the Maple Leafs beat the San Jose Sharks 5-3 in NHL action Wednesday night.
Matthews says it was tough watching his team and not being able to play.
"Watching what we've been able to do the last month, we've played exceptional at times," says Matthews.
John Tavares scored twice and Mitch Marner registered three assists for the Leafs, who have now won three straight games.
Toronto is now tied with the surprising Buffalo Sabres in the Atlantic Division standings.
