Leafs and Red Wings Go To A Shootout

Auston Matthews ends a 13 game scoring slump

Jacob Josefson scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Devils outlasted the Maple Leafs 5-4 at the Prudential Center.

New Jersey spotted Toronto a 3-0 lead in the first period which included a pair of goals by Leafs rookie Auston Matthews, who ended a 13 game scoring drought.

Windsor's Matt Martin also scored his first goal as a Leaf.

Toronto has lost its last three games.

Gustav Nyquist and Thomas Vanek each scored in the shootout to give the Red Wings a 2-1 win over the Sabres in Buffalo.

Jimmy Howard made 32 saves for Detroit, which put the brakes on a four-game skid.
