The 7th annual Tech Show is in the books.
The show took place on Tuesday, October 22 at Caesars Windsor and featured the latest tech trends and tools.
It was put on by the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WETech Alliance.
A number of local companies were on hand including Kelcom which showed off a "Markforged" 3D printer.
Kevin Taylor is a 3D Print Consultant.
He says Kelcom has been working with the 3D printer for four years and is working with industrial companies along with tool and die shops from Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London along with Kitchener-Waterloo.
"It is exciting right now in terms of the industrial applications and we're really helping make Windsor-Essex industrial companies and tool and die shops more effective, faster turnaround times for their customers," says Taylor.
Taylor says "Markforged" 3D printer has changed the industry.
"They've gone from nothing to the number two industrial company," says Taylor. "They're ahead of companies that are 30 years been in business. They're just behind another company that's been in business for 30 years so they have found something that's really really suitable for industrial manufacturing."
Taylor says 3D printing has picked up in the past year and a half.
He says companies have concerns because of previous printing models.
"Now actually my biggest challenge up until about a year and a half ago is explaining to people, hey this is different," says Taylor. "This is real, useful functional parts. This is something you can show to your customer and they're going to go yeah, this is something I can trust and believe it."
Kelcom is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Taylor says the 3D printer is the newest division for the company.
