A tough night at home for the Windsor Spitfires who couldn't hold on to a 3-2 lead in game three of their first round OHL playoff series with the London Knights.
The Knights scored four unanswered goals, including two empty-netters, in the third period on their way to a 6-3 win.
Louka Henault scored for the Spitfires in the loss.
He says the team played well enough to win.
"It's super frustrating. We came into this game looking at it as a must win and I feel like we did everything right. We were very physical putting a lot of pressure on them, getting shots, something we haven't done a lot the first two games. To not come out with the win, it's really frustrating and now we're in an actual must win position for game four."
Spitfire winger Chris Playfair says the team came out strong, but couldn't finish.
"It was our best game of the series for sure. Especially the first 40 minutes, I thought that was some of our best hockey all year. I think we really pushed them and in the third we got into some penalty trouble. They have a good powerplay and they capitalized. It stings, but we've just got to get the next one now."
With the loss, Windsor now trails London 3-0 in the series with game four set go to at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.
Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. with the AM800 pre-game show getting underway at 6:30 p.m.
If the Spitfires avoid elimination, game five is scheduled for Friday night in London.
