Wednesday is the last day to 'Fill the Ambulance' for the Downtown Mission.
The paramedic program at St. Clair College is heading up the event and will be accepting donations of food, blankets and clothing.
The Mission's Executive Director, Ron Dunn, is sending out a big 'thank you' to the students and says even the smallest donation helps.
Dunn says the need at the Mission continues to grow.
"The question is always, "Are we getting less donations?". We're not. We're getting more people coming through and that's the issue that we're faced with. Not just at Christmas, but all year round. But certainly, since we moved our food bank, we used to see 1,100 a month, the last two weeks we've done about 800 per week. There's been a huge spike."
He says they're in dire need of items for babies and small children.
"I guess I remind people to think about what kids will eat because that's what we need. We help a lot of families and we need to make sure that the kids are taken care of. So any kind of a protein, cereal, peanut butter, canned ham, anything like that we certainly always need."

'Fill the Ambulance' goes Wednesday from 8am to noon at the Toldo Centre at St. Clair College.
If you can't make it to the event donations can always be directly dropped off at the Mission at 664 Victoria Ave.
