If you have some gently used shoes in your closet, a youth group in LaSalle is looking to take them off your hands.
The Interact Club of LaSalle, which is a youth philanthropy team sponsored by the Rotary Club of LaSalle-Centennial, has launched its second annual collection to support the Soles4Souls organization.
The shoes are handed out to 127 countries around the world and to people living in poverty.
Last year, the local group collected 2, 226 pairs of shoes.
Shoes are being collected until March 8th
"Anything that is not falling apart, that is not so dirty that it can't be used," says Interact Club Program Director Renee Wulterkens. "There are over 500-million children that are in need of shoes so really anything helps."
"Anyone who can donate shoes, please do," she says. "We are looking to raise a lot of shoes this time and it is something we are really passionate about."
