The Town of LaSalle wants a meeting with the Ministry of Transportation.
Residents have expressed concerns over the lack of a right-hand turning lane from Highway 3 onto Montgomery Dr. in the Oliver Farms neighbourhood.
Councillor Mike Akpata says a petition has been presented and some residents are calling for a cul-de-sac at the north end of Montgomery, restricting traffic from making a right turn from the highway.
He says he understands why some residents are concerned.
"It is a bit of a scary turn," says Akpata. "It is a bit of a speedy turn and our hope is we never have to regret anything that we've done in the municipality. We want to keep our residents safe."

Some residents also told council that along with increased traffic, the street is also dealing with speeders after other entrances from the highway were closed as part of the Herb Gray Parkway project.
But Akpata says not everyone in the neighbourhood is in favour of the petition.
"We received a petition to close it," he says. "We also received some notices from people who didn't want it closed. But if you noticed the neighbours all sat and there was middle ground, there was a gentleman who purposed a number of things that have not been considered. So we have to do our due diligence to ensure that whatever we can do to ensure traffic safety within the municipality is brought to the appropriate people to deal with it."
Akpata says town staff is not in favour of a cul-de-sac but does want to work with the residents along with the MTO.
The town hopes to have representatives from the ministry at its traffic plan open house at the Vollmer Centre on March 7th.
