Its being called a job scam

A warning this morning from LaSalle Police about a new job scam that's making the rounds.

A town resident became suspicious after being offered a job with a Calgary-based IT firm.

Nearly $1900 was e-transferred to his bank account.

He was then told to re-distribute the money to various locations using methods like 'Bitcoin ATM' and others.

A check with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre indicates he's one of 6 people approached this month alone.

LaSalle Police are urging anyone to be leery of a scenario that involves the re-distribution of money.

The initial deposit usually turns out to be fraudulent.
