One person is dead and another is expected to survive after two fentanyl overdose incidents in LaSalle.
LaSalle police say they responded to two separate overdoses last week involving suspected purple fentanyl.
Police say the first incident involved a man, who was unresponsive when officers arrived.
According to police, the victim was revived after an officer administered two doses of Naloxone via nasal spray.
The man was rushed to hospital for further treatment and is expected to recover.
Police say the second incident involved a woman who was found unresponsive in her home by family members.
Naloxone was administered and CPR was performed before first responders arrived.
Police say she was rushed to hospital but did not survive, succumbing to the effects of the powerful opioid.
LaSalle police are reminding the public that fentanyl is a powerful and potent opioid that should only be administered under the guidance of a physician.
