Life cycle for the old plow had run its course and it needed replacement

The Town of LaSalle is investing in its snow removal equipment.

One of the municipality's five plows is at the end of it's life and will be replaced.

Mayor Marc Bondy says LaSalle is known for it's clean winter roads and the vehicle that needs replacing is 13-years-old.

"It's time to replace it. Through plowing the frame has cracked on the snow plow and the frame on the truck itself, they weld it and fix it but it's at the point now they have to go to a newer one and they're staying with the Viking so it's interchangeable with other snow plows."

Bondy says it's not money you want to spend, but road maintenance is important.

He says replacing the old vehicle doesn;t mean it will be disposed of.

"To be repurposed for the public works and water department to be used for its extended life until it breaks down completely and it's not worth repairing."

Bondy says the cost will be covered by the public works budget. He says the purchase is not to expand plowing services, it's to maintain what is already done.
