Seasonal boat ramp passes in LaSalle will not be made available at this time.
The town has put a hold on issuing the passes due to predicted high water levels on the Great Lakes and Detroit River.
Recreation Manager Patti Funaro says normally early bird passes are made available at the beginning of January.
"The early bird passes typically are on sale until the end of March so we hope by that point to at least the end of March to have a little bit more information about when we maybe putting those passes on sale," says Funaro.
She says the the town usually sells about 300 seasonal boat ramp passes per year, adding "We do get a number of residents who like to get the early bird pricing on it. Some of them go away for the winter, they like to be ready for when they come back in the spring with their pass but again we didn't want to go through the process and have to refund that money should the water levels remain high and the ramp be closed."
She says the ramp was closed for roughly 10 days in July 2019 due to overland flooding in the area.
"The boat ramp did have to be closed for a number of days and there were seasonal boat ramp holders that we ended up refunding money to last year just because of the closures," says Funaro. "So given that things are predicted to remain high and we're unsure at the status at this time, we're just going to hold off on those early bird passes until we have more information."
The boat ramp is located at Gil Maure Park on Front Road at Laurier Drive.
