A 19-year-old LaSalle girl will be representing Canada in next month's World Championships of Irish Dance.
Morgan Muzzatti has been dancing since she was eight years old. She trains a couple of hours a day and qualified for the event after winning the Eastern Canadian Champion of Irish Dance in the under-19 category.
"In order to get to this level, you have to train practically every day. For me personally, I train two hours a day every day, sometimes I need my daily break but training does get a lot more intense," says Muzzatti.
She is feeling confident going into the championships.
"We have super intricate movements that incorporate twisting of your hips and knees, your ankles have to be completely horizontal at points in your dance," says Muzzatti. "It is vrey demanding to your bones and muscles and tendons."
A benefit is being held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #12 in Olde Walkerville on March 19 to help raise money to cover training and travel for the trip.
Muzzatti is set to leave for Dublin on April 7th and competes on April 14th.
