The mayor of LaSalle says the town would have to carefully consider whether it makes sense to implement photo radar in school zones and community safety zones.
The province recently announced that the technology would be allowed in those specific locations.
"This doesn't surprise me that the province wouldn't want to handle it themselves, and that they'd just pass it along to the municipalities but I think, like I say, they'll have to come up with something that will assist the municipalities financially to accommodate it," says Antaya.
Antaya says the town reduced the speed limit in all school zones to 30 km/h last year and hasn't had major problems since then.
