The Town of LaSalle wants to update its fire master plan.
On Tuesday, councillor Sue Desjarlais put a motion on the table calling for the town to hire a consultant and update its plan.
She says the plan was last updated in 2008 and a lot has changed in the municipality in the past 10 years, adding she's hearing from residents who want to know if the town is still moving ahead with a second site.
"People are saying are you changing your mind, are you going ahead with it in the park, are you going to do it at Centennial Arena, are you going to do it somewhere down Laurier and I'm saying we haven't decided what we're doing with it," says Desjarlais. "We're going to go out, we're going to take a look, we're going to update the information and move forward with it from there."
She hopes the new plan can be done within the next few months. "I want to make sure for the residents safety that we're doing things in the right manner, the right order and if we're going to put a second fire house in then let's look at the right place to do it," says Desjarlais. "I don't think that the park was the right place."
Back in July, council voted 5-2 against a satellite fire station in a residential neighbourhood on Hazel Street between Superior St. and Huron St.
The new fire hall would have been located at John Dupuis Park with a price tag for the station and revamped park close to $2.1-million.
At that time many residents spoke out against the proposed location.
