The Town of LaSalle is not the safest community in Canada after all.
An error was made in the Police Reported Crime Statistics in Canada for 2018 by Statistics Canada.
In a Facebook post, LaSalle police say they conducted a detailed review and determined the published data was inconsistent with 2018 data supplied to Stats Canada.
The police service contacted Stats Canada and requested a formal review and the agency did acknowledge a miss-recording on their part and has since corrected the issue.
LaSalle is now ranked ninth for Overall Crime Severity Index for 2018.
The town ranked tenth in 2017.
