A couple wet summers has the Town of LaSalle looking to improve drainage at the Vollmer Complex.
Council approved a $95,000 tender for an "enhanced drainage system" at two of its soccer fields Tuesday night.
Bids came in higher than the $75,000 earmarked for the work, but it needs to be done according to Manager or Roads and Parks Mark Beggs.
"Basically, we're looking at hopefully being able to keep the fields open more often, have better turf quality and be able to deal with wet conditions better," he says. "We've had lots of closures and our user groups would like to see them open more."
He tells AM800 News drainage work on more fields in town could be on the way.
"This is the first phase in the program to see if it does actually work, if it does, then it's probably something we'd continue with," Beggs added.
Work will begin in the second week of August and should be completed by the middle of September.
