Residents in Lasalle get one more opportunity tonight to speak to the proposed solution for flooding in areas along the Herb Gray Parkway.
During heavy storm events in 2014 and 2015, about 70 homes in the Heritage Estates and Oliver Farms area had flooded basements.
The Public Works department has come up with a solution that involves a number of new sewer lines and a retention pond, but the loss of a baseball diamond.
Director of Public Works, Peter Marra, says "we're going to provide some additional information on that pond and look at a couple of other enhanced options to maybe try to negate some of the impacts on the park."
Marra adds that the pond will be a buffer during heavy rains, saying "this pond will, in essence, provide an opportunity for the storm water to store on an interim basis, while the drainage system downstream are receiving all the other water and then slowly this will drain into those systems."
The public meeting will take place at the Lasalle Civic Centre on Malden Road.
