LaSalle council has approved funding to look into improving traffic at two busy intersections.
A report went forward to council on Tuesday evening asking to pre-approve $200,000 in the 2024 budget for an engineering analysis of the Sprucewood Avenue and Matchett Road intersection, and the Morton and Matchett intersection.
Council did approve the report, with many councillors expressing the need for work to be done at these intersections.
Mayor Crystal Meloche stated during the meeting that it's a great conversation to have with the City of Windsor, as part of the existing intersection is owned by Windsor.
Part of the engineering analysis of Morton and Matchett will be looking into installing signals with proper turning lights, and to look into the installation of a roundabout.
The analysis for Sprucewood and Matchett will look into installing temporary signals with proper turning lanes, which would include ditch infilling and road widening in both LaSalle and Windsor to accommodate the turning lanes.
The intention is for a report to come back to council in the second half of 2024.
