LaSalle is celebrating a successful return to Mondays with the Mayor.
The event took a brief hiatus due to COVID-19, but is back in an over the phone version instead of the in-person meetings that took place in the past.
"The difference this time is it was telephone only where prior Mondays with the Mayor were in person and, obviously, due to COVID and for the safety of everyone we've decided to do it by phone. So it was different, but I was surprised at the amount of phone calls,” said Mayor, Marc Bondy.
He says surprisingly, not a single COVID-19 question was asked, but residents did bring up several other issues like dirty yards and boater safety.
"After one Mondays with the Mayor you get everything from bylaw issues to safety issues,” says Bondy. “Some might seem trivial to administration when we give it to them, but it's not trivial to the person calling about that concern."
He says one thing residents are happy with is the town's police service.
"One we don't get any complaints about is policing issues,” Bonday says. “Nobody calls about the police. They love our policing. I don't get complaints about that. So what do I expect? It's always like opening up a box of chocolates, you don't know which one you're going to get."
The town has another Monday with the Mayor planned for Monday, August 24 between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Residents can call 519-969-7770 ex. 1233 — calls will be answered in the order they come in.
