The recruits for the 2018-19 Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey Team have been announced.
Included in the group of seven are defensemen Chays Ruddy, goaltender Lasse Peterson and forwards Coy Prevost, John Wesley, Ethan Skinner, Connor Logan ad Brett Mennear.
"We are really excited to have this tremendous group of young men wearing the Blue & Gold next season," says Head Coach Kevin Hamlin. "I feel the incoming skill sets address the needs we have. Each player competes hard and is a blue collar individual who plays better in bigger moments."
Captain of the AJHL's Canmore Eagles for the past three seasons, Coy Prevost led the team in points registering 126 points in 153 games. Prevost was traded at the trade deadline this year to the Fort MacMurray Oil Barrons as part of their run for a league championship.
Ruddy, the lone defensemen in the recruiting class, played four seasons with the Trenton Golden Hawks in the OPJHL where he helped lead the team to a league championship. The Cobourg, Ontario native spent last season with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL, where they advanced to the BCHL championship game.
Logan, a native of Victoria, British Columbia is a NCAA transfer student from SUNY-Plattsburgh. Prior to his year in the NCAA, the 6'0 forward played junior hockey for the Battleford North Stars in the SJHL where he scored 53 points in 56 games, en route to capturing the SJHL championship title.
A highly sought after recruit, John Wesley joins the Blue & Gold following a successful year with the Surrey Eagles in the BCHL. The 6'0 forward scored 37 goals and 68 points in 56 games played for his hometown Eagles. Prior to his year with Surrey, Wesley played four seasons with the WHL's Vancouver Giants.
Over the past three season, Lasse Petersen has split his time between the WHL and MJHL. An excellent goaltender who will provide a great deal of support to an outstanding existing core, Petersen represented the country of Denmark at the World Junior Tournament in 2017, stunning the hockey world with a 3-2 win over the Czech Republic in the round robin.
Also joining the Blue & Gold this year are Ethan Skinner and Brett Mennear. Skinner captained the Elmira Sugar Kings to a Sutherland Cup in 2017, while Mennear transfers to the Lancers from the NCAA's Bentley University. He also spent five seasons in the BCHL, and in his last season with the Prince George Spruce Kings scored 79 points in 59 games played.
