The University of Windsor has handed out its awards to Lancer athletes.
Kelsey Balkwill and John Moate were awarded the Banner and Olympic Shields as the University of Windsor Athletes of the Year.
The duo were multiple winners as part of the Evening of Excellence, held at the St. Clair Centre of the Arts.
Moate as he established himself as one of the premier men's volleyball players in the country and Balkwill was a key member of the women's track & field team at both provincials and nationals.
The DeMarco Award, presented annually to the top female and male students that best combine academic achievement with athletic prowess was awarded Mike Rocca, mens basketball and Sarah Mitton, women's basketball.
University of Windsor Gino Fracas Coach of the Year Award, James Gravelle, men's volleyball.
Blake Blondeel from men's hockey and Emily Prevost from women's basketball - The Captain's Trophy, awarded to a male and female captain who demonstrate outstanding leadership both on and off the field while also making a significant contribution to the overall success of their team.
Paige Phills from women's volleyball and Jonathan Reinhart from men's hockey were named rookies of the year.
The Super Sophomore awards were presented to women's track & field standout Kelly Hodgins, and Pierce Johnson from men's volleyball.
"A" Awards, marking major contributions to Lancer Athletics, went to Lancer volunteer photographer Gerry Marentette and OUA TV host & YourTV community broadcaster Brett Hedges.
